mod Homewares
Summer 2025— material exploration studio
A modular ceramic slip-casting system that utilizes multipliable molds. This allows for infinite products to be made out of 5 mold pieces.
Problem
Ceramic homewares are designed in isolation. Each piece exists on its own, making it hard to build a cohesive home without buying into a rigid, pre-decided collection.
Insight
Gathering slowly and intentionally is a more sustainable and considered way to build a home. Accumulating objects with meaning over time is more intentional than buying a set all at once. The family of form offers continuity across the home without ever committing to a predetermined collection.
Intent
A deep exploration of ceramic slip-casting and what the material can do when the same 5 molds are recombined endlessly. The mold is the constant and the material does the rest. Rawness, texture, and the honesty of the process are not byproducts but the point.
Solution
A homeware system that grows one piece at a time, never feeling mismatched because every form shares the same mold pieces. It lives anywhere in the home, brought together not by color or pattern but by a quiet, material continuity.
